Flicker notifies you in-app for the events you care about — org-scoped, so what you see is always limited to organizations you belong to. Most types can also send an email. Both channels are yours to control from Settings .
The in-app inbox
Every notification you haven't turned off lands in your in-app inbox. From there you can mark one read, mark everything read, or dismiss it. Dismissed notifications drop out of the inbox but the underlying event isn't deleted immediately — it's retained for a bounded window before cleanup.
Choosing what reaches you
A notification type is either transactional — account security, billing, and similar events you can't turn off — or optional, where each channel follows a per-user preference. Optional types default to on for both channels, so you are opted in until you say otherwise.
Settings lists one section per organization you belong to, with an In-app and an Email switch for every optional type. The two are independent: you can keep the inbox entry and stop the email, or the reverse. Preferences are also per organization — quieting deploy notifications for one org leaves your other orgs untouched.
Turning off both channels for a type means that notification isn't recorded for you at all — it won't appear in your inbox later, so this is a genuine mute rather than a hidden badge.
Flipping a switch takes effect immediately for anything not already in flight — an email queued moments earlier can still land, since delivery is asynchronous. Every optional notification email includes a plain-text link back to these settings.
